.hu is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Hungary.
Registrations are processed via accredited registrars.
Domains directly under the domain space ".hu" can be applied for by any citizen of the European Union or any natural person holding a permit for domiciliation in Hungary or any entity established by virtue of law entered in the records of or registered with an authority or court, or any entity filing its respective application with the competent authority.
In order to register a domain name under ".hu" the following criteria must be met:
The domain name shall be of at least 2 characters and not more than 40 characters. However it is recommended that the domain names under ".hu" shall be between 5-10 characters. Any type of lower case letters without accent of the Latin alphabet (a-z) may be used as well as lower case letters with accent of the Hungarian alphabet such as á, é, í, ó, ö, õ, ú, ü, and ũ.
Numeric characters are also permitted in the address as well a - (hyphen). Though only letters or
numeric characters may be at the beginning and at the end of the domain name. And a domain name can not contain two hyphens following each other.
".hu" have a numerous amount of second level domain names (2LD's) The following secondary level public domains are currently open for registration:

If an application is received for a domain name where another application is already being verified and/or registered, the name will be deleted automatically when the name passed in the registration phase is registered. This since ".hu" domains is served on a first come first served basis.
